The worst reception staff ever

I wish I could give this accommodation zero stars and that’s solely for the utter lack of empathy shown by the front desk staff and especially a woman named I think Ali?. When I walked in Feb 17 after being assaulted and robbed right around the block from the hotel, and announced it at while she was at the front desk, she could not give a toss. Neither did the security guard. No one offered any assistance or concern whatsoever.

Even when I asked her to reach the manager for a first aid kit, she seemed bored. He in turn seemed surprised, but again ZERO sympathy offered.

This dismal attitude is on par with the rubbish attitude of the reception in general. When you walk in no one says hello, and when you leave no one says goodbye. They seem completely and utterly uninterested in the guests.

Absolutely appalling “customer service.” These people should not be in business or should be retrained immediately.

The area is complete rubbish so 100% do not recommend staying here during carnival as that that was when I got assaulted by walking to get lunch around the block from the hotel. There was almost no one around in the immediate vicinity of the hotel, special later in the afternoon.

I do not recommend staying here even during no Carnival because even though the immediate area is busier during the work hours (the Italian, French and German consulates are literally around the block!), it’s really unsafe at night and you HAVE to take an Uber. You cannot be walking from the local metro stop just an 11-minute walk away. Every Brazilian warned me about this area and they were right sadly.

I’ll also contacting the Brazilian business authorities because this place should be shuttered or the staff fired.

Pros:

Otherwise, the room is fine. I stayed on the second floor. I faced a parking area which is fine because I asked for a quiet room and that delivered. There’s a desk and the WiFi is strong enough spaces to record a podcast and upload videos on social. The water pressure was fine. Outlets were also by the bed.

Very close to Santos Dumont Airport

The location is very close to Santos Dumont Airport and to tour the historic center, but the area becomes unsafe at night and there are many people in street situation.

I stayed in room 604. As positive points, it has Smart TV, air conditioning, refrigerator and space to leave luggage. It also has a rooftop with a beautiful view. However, maintenance and cleaning fail: the room was dirty and I found several spiders in the bed area.
